Mark Johnson, the President of the Jersey Race Club (JRC) is to step down from his position, which he has held since 2018.

As well as his role at the club, Mr Johnson is also a race commentator, having done so at the JRC for almost 30 years.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, he has not been able to travel to Jersey to take up his role at the club and has decided to resign from the position to allow for the JRC to appoint a new head in time for the next set of horse racing in the island in 2021.

The committee in charge of the club has thanked him for his work in the role and has appointed Mrs 'Bunny' Roberts as the interim President and Anthony Taylor as a Vice President until the club's AGM in November.
