Preparations are underway to create Jersey’s first ever Youth Parliament.

The group, called Jersey Youth Connect, will give 12 to 18-year-olds a platform to provide input into the government's policies - particularly ones that affect them.

From September, the Jersey Youth Service will start engagement with young people through secondary schools and youth organisations to promote the new initiative, and tell them how they can get involved.

To ensure that young people are involved in the process, a logo competition will take place over the summer. Young people have a month to design a logo and at the end of August, a group of youth ambassadors will select their five favourite logos. This will then go out to public vote.

Anyone interested in taking part has until 31 August to send their design to youthconnect@jsy.je.

It is hoped that the Youth Parliament will be launched by March next year.
