Plasterboard recycling starts at Longue Hougue
Longue Hougue Waste Centre is now recycling plasterboard.
Before now it had to be disposed of in landfill, where it could produce toxic gasses.
The material will be exported to the UK and blended with gypsum to make new plasterboard.
Paper that lines the board will be removed in the UK and recycled into animal bedding.
Longue Hougue is asking people to make sure the board is clean, dry and without screws, wallpaper or tiles attached.
