A fifth peregrine falcon has been killed by pesticides in Guernsey in just over a year.

Results from post-mortem tests and assessment of the bird's stomach show it was killed by professional-grade chemicals. It was found dead in June.

The States Veterinary Office has also reported that another bird of prey has been found dead this week under unusual circumstances.

Samples have now been sent away for analysis.

States' officers are asking anyone with information of the bird's deaths to contact them on svo@gov.gg.

Any islanders with information regarding the misuse of commercial pesticides should contact the Health and Safety Executive on 01481 234567 or by emailing hse@gov.gg.
