The end of an era: Current Les Quennevais School closes its doors
The current Les Quennevais School, which has educated thousands of children during its56-year history, is closing its doors for good today.
From September, pupils will instead be taught at a new £40 million facility that has been built on fields that border La Route de Quennevais.
The old site was built in 1965 to accommodate just 450 pupils, whereas it now has a cohort of 780 and therefore needed more space.
Plans to celebrate the closing of the current school and the move to the current site have had to be scaled back due to the Covid-19 pandemic. However, the milestone was marked byteachers giving students a guard of honour as they left the school for the final time last Friday (10 July).
