GSPCA releases two seal pups back into the wild
Two seal pups were released by the GSPCA this morning. Andrew and Pebbles have been nursed back to health at the animal shelter and were taken to Jethou island to be released.
Pebbles was rescued in Guernsey five months ago. Andrew, the Jersey seal pup, was the longest ever seal in rehab at the GSCPA. He was brought into the shelter in November 2018.
Island RIB Voyages offered to boat the seal pups over this morning, so they could start their new adventures in style.
Geoff George, Head of Marine Animals at the GSPCA, has nursed Pebbles and Andrew back to health.
When Andrew was taken in, he had to be fed from a bottle every three hours for the first four months. Getting him to eat on his own took a long time.
It's been a long road to recovery but now Andrew and Pebbles can enjoy new adventures together.
