Guernsey's taxi drivers will be able to receive financial support through the island's payroll co-funding scheme.

The Policy and Resources Committee has agreed to extend the scheme to cabbies until the end of September.

Several members of the sector have called for government support due to the lack of visitors to the Bailiwick, a main source of their income.

The Committee also wants to remind businesses of the range of support available to them. Rent owed by commercial tenants of States-owned premises is being waived, for those who have not been able to open for business during ‘lockdown’. The Committee says as of yet few tenants have been in contact so they want to reiterate that support is there for them.
