Elderly islanders in Jersey meet for a tea party after months of lockdown
After months in isolation, elderly islanders in Jersey have finally got the opportunity to socialise.
The Bosdet Foundation have hosted two coffee mornings this week for people who have been shielding since the start of the coronavirus outbreak.
The Foundation partnered with Age Concern, Call and Check, Meals on Wheels and other services that support people who had been particularly isolated by the pandemic.
Those who were invited enjoyed coffee and cake at Les Ormes Brasserie. And as the island’s businesses reopen, Mr Le Pavoux hopes others will follow suit.
Paul McGinnety, who is the Director of Local Services for Jersey's government says many islanders look forward to coffee mornings and social gatherings but Covid-19 has meant an end to these activities, which has had a severe impact on their overall quality of life.
