De La Salle house name could be removed over concerns about racist past
Students and teachers at a Jersey school will discuss whether to rename one of its houses - which is named after a white supremacist. Rhodes house at De La Salle is named after Cecil Rhodes - a 19th century colonialist. The headteacher says the name was chosen 100 years ago, because of the money Rhodes gave to promote equality in education. A consultation with current students and alumni will take place to consider whether the house names should be changed.
