Jersey's Chief Minister has warned the island could be left without easyJet services this summer if it does not reopen the borders this Friday (3 July).

He made the warning ahead of a States Assembly debate tomorrow (30 June) on the proposals.

Senator John Le Fondré says it could be as late as September that Jersey makes it back onto their schedules if it fails to give the green light this week.

He was speaking to the Corporate Services Scrutiny Panel hearing looking at the government's management of the pandemic.

Politicians are being asked to agree to opening the borders to air and sea passengers, where they will be given the choice of either a Covid-19 test on arrival or 14 days quarantine.

Some politicians have expressed concern that passengers will not need to isolate while they await their results, which ministers hope will take around 12 hours, but could be as long as 72 hours.
