Grandparents in Jersey will be able to hug their grandchildren from tomorrow (26 June).
The government says islanders may now begin to have "limited, physical contact with a small number of people from outside their household", but should remain cautious and maintain good hygeine.
The move comes on the same day that the physical distancing requirement is reduced from two metres to one .
The reduction from two metres to at least one metre has been introduced as the next step in our move towards a ‘new normal'.
By allowing limited physical contact, grandparents can once again hug their grandchildren, and couples who live separately can reunite.
High-risk islanders should remain mindful of how many people they choose to have physical contact with.
