Laws will be drafted to regulate private coronavirus testing facilities in Jersey.

The States Assembly backed a proposition by the deputy of St Lawrence, Deputy Kirsten Morel, calling on Health Minister Deputy Richard Renouf to draw up legislation to ensure tests are carried out in a 'clean, safe and appropriate environment'.

A private facility offering coronavirus tests to the public was set up on the former Tamba Park site earlier this year, with ministers warning islanders to be cautious about using it.

The Health Minister must now bring forward legislation for debate in the States Assembly by Wednesday 1 July.
