Blue passports will arrive in Jersey from this week.

The document is a variant of the British passport which changed from burgundy backs to its original blue after Brexit.

The traditional blue passports stopped being produced in 1988 when EU members agreed to a consistent design.

Islanders who hold an existing burgundy passport can still use it for travel until they expire.

Jersey’s government is encouraging people to check their passports and renew them ahead of border restrictions easing.
