Appeal for 1,000 milk crates to be returned to Guernsey Dairy

Guernsey Dairy is asking islanders to return milk crates after being short of around a thousand.

The company says if it is not able to get them back, then it will have to spend thousands of pounds on replacements. The familiar orange and blue crates cost the Dairy around £13 each to buy.

They are used to make up orders for distributors and are usually used to deliver milk to restaurants and hotels.

Islanders are said to have had the crates since the start of lockdown and the Dairy believes some have been used for grocery deliveries.

The production manager at the company says being short of the crates makes the distribution process "extremely challenging".

A similar appeal was put out by the company in 2018, when more than 1,500 crates were returned.

Any islanders who have the crates are being asked to leave them at the motorbike car park just inside the Dairy to the left of the entrance.
