Jersey's borders could open as early as July
Jersey could re-open its borders as soon as July, according to the Chief Minister.
All but non-essential travel to and from the island was suspended in March, to reduce the spread of coronavirus, and those who were permitted to travel had to isolate for 14 days upon their return - a measure that is still in place.
But at today's press conference, Senator John Le Fondré said a move into level one of the government's lockdown exit strategy - currently forecast for early next month - could see some travel restrictions eased.
The Economic Development Minister, Senator Lyndon Farnham, echoed these sentiments, and said although there are risks associated with opening up the borders, there could also be many benefits.
From tomorrow, Jersey will move into level two of lockdown. The island currently has five known active cases of Covid-19.
