Residents in care homes across Guernsey are now allowed to have visitors after 12 weeks of being isolated.

The move comes as the island continues to ease its lockdown restrictions.

Chateau Des Tielles Nursing and Residential home in Torteval have allowed its 26 residents to select two visitors each. They can meet for up to one hour a day in one of the communal areas. Social distancing does not apply.

Visitors must have their temperature checked on arrival, provide their contact details and hand sanitize on the way in.

Sonia Singh, the assistant manager at Chateau Des Tielles, says the last three months have been "difficult" for the residents as they had to self-isolate in their rooms.

Chateau Des Tielles isolated its residents a week before Guernsey went into lockdown on 24 March. It did not have any cases of Covid-19.

The easing of restrictions in phase four of Guernsey's exit strategy means families previously separated can now reunite.
