'Symbolic' pebble towers to be recorded as part of Guernsey's history
Pebble towers built by people in Guernsey during the lockdown could become a permanent marker in the island's history.
Photos and videos of the towers will become part of a social history project, which has been rolled out by The Committee for Education, Sport & Culture and the Guernsey Arts Commission.
The pebble structures have been built by people during their two hours exercise while in lockdown to "represent the spirit of GuernseyTogether".
Deputy Matt Fallaize says the towers are "symbolic of the way the people of Guernsey have faced the difficult challenges of the past few months".
Organisers of the project are asking islanders to share their photos and videos, using the #PebbleTowers, and would like to speak to people who helped build them.
Land Management Services have agreed to pause their removal of any towers where there is a concern over their height or stability.
