A group in Guernsey have been putting their art and craft skills to good use to help others during lockdown.

Gloria Dekker, Muriel Tappenden and Louisa Maubec teamed up to knit comfort bands which face masks can easily hook on to.

So far, they have handed out over 1,500 to frontline healthcare workers and care home staff across the island.

But the group is now looking further afield and are linking up with University College Hospital in London.

Another initiative on the island is the Shared Hearts Project which is being run by the States of Guernsey. When islanders cannot support loved ones because they are off-island, or visit family in hospital, this project steps in to help.
