Thousands of children in Jersey experiencing anxiety

A new study estimates there are 2,000 children in Jersey experiencing anxiety.

It follows an islandwide questionnaire of children and young people to see how they have been coping during lockdown.

Around 15% of young people said they were feeling anxious, while 8% had safety concerns.

A smaller number highlighted domestic violence, alcohol use and overcrowded housing conditions.

The study, ahead of the phased reopening of schools from 8 June will help education bosses prioritise wellbeing in the curriculum in the early days and weeks of students returning to the classroom.
