Former Lieutenant Governor of Guernsey Vice Admiral Sir John Coward dies
The former Lieutenant Governor of Guernsey, Vice Admiral Sir John Coward, has died.
Serving as Lieutenant Governor between 1994 and 2000 Sir John Coward made a ‘big impact’ on many he met.
Before moving to Guernsey he served as a Submariner throughout the Cold War.
During the Falklands War he was the Captain of HMS Brilliant. The ship is said to have been one of the only that engaged in ‘ship-to-ship combat’ and came under the attack of Argentinian aircraft.
Sir John Coward also served as a Vice President of the RNLI, where he was appointed to mark his service to the charity.
