Entire 2020 horse racing season cancelled in Jersey
All this year's horse racing events in Jersey have been cancelled.
The Jersey Race Club Committee voted last night to scrap the meetings at Les Landes due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Nine meets were set to take place this summer - the Easter Monday event was the first to be cancelled in March.
Spectators would not be allowed at the events, and riders from the UK or Guernsey would not have been able to get to Jersey to compete. Even if they had, they would have had to go into quarantine for two weeks.

In its reasoning, the Channel Islands Horseracing Authority explained that Jersey government's advice is that, even under level one of the lockdown exit framework, any sporting event must take place without spectators.

The Channel Islands Horseracing Authority are exploring whether it will be possible for Channel Islands based trainers to enter horses in France or England once foreign entries are accepted in those jurisdictions.
