Man 'climbs Everest' in his back garden

A man in Jersey has raised almost £3000 for charity, after completing a ‘virtual’ summit of Mount Everest.

Peter Picot climbed more than a thousand metres a day, using a ladder in his back garden.

It took him eight days to get to the ‘top’ of the mountain, climbing 8848 metres in total.

He had initially set himself the target of raising £250 for The Salvation Army, but by the time he finished the challenge, he had raised £2910.
