Bergerac star Sean Arnold dies

Actor Sean Arnold has died in Jersey after having a long-term illness.

Sean was best known in the Channel Islands for playing Superintendent Barney Crozier in the classic detective drama Bergerac.

For decades, the actor had performed in theatre, films and on TV shows that were watched by millions.

In 2005, he was nominated for Best Actor in the British Soap Awards.

A member of Sean’s family confirmed to ITV News that he passed away on Wednesday 15 April at the age of 79.

Last year, Sean published his first novel called Anton Myst.

One of his final wishes was for his ashes to be scattered between Beauport Bay in Jersey and in England.

His cremation will take place this week, and under current lockdown rules only one family member is flying over to attend.
