Jersey schools to remain closed until May

Jersey schools will remain closed until 1 May.

The Education Minister has signed a Ministerial Decision, which excludes those that are providing places to support the children of critical workers, or those that are classed as vulnerable.

Mont a L’Abbé and Le Sente will continue to be open for those pupils for whom detailed, health-led risk assessments indicate that it is safe for them to attend.

The Children, Young People, Education and Skills department says it will use this month to determine if extended closures are needed, based on health-led advice.

But Senator Vallois has also announced a new programme launching soon called Learning At Home. The online resource will support parents ofpupils aged 4-14 who will be worried about Covid-19, home learning, and the impact that this will have on their child’s education.
