Jersey Ambulance Service takes command of St John Ambulance and Normandy Rescue
The Jersey Ambulance Service has taken control of St John Ambulance and Normandy Rescue so that their resources, assets and volunteers are shared and can work together.
The service says it will to ensure suitably trained members of the community and other emergency services maintain high-quality services during the coronavirus pandemic.
Normandy Rescue is a small team of volunteers who provide medical, rescue and extrication cover in Jersey, whilst St John Ambulance is a volunteer led organisation which provides first aid training and medical support at events in the island.
The Jersey service is also opening a second ambulance station at the St John Ambulance headquarters in Midvale Road to form part of the Government’s management of the spread of Covid-19.
States of Jersey Police and Jersey Fire and Rescue Service are also being trained in ambulance driving to provide further support, and staff from across Government are to be trained as combined control call handlers.
