Jersey’s Chief Minister says lockdown will soon apply to everyone
Senator John Le Fondre says lockdown measures will apply to everyone in the ‘near future’.
It comes as the government announced the number of coronavirus cases in Jersey has doubled from 16 to 32.
He spoke to the island over a live online broadcast.
He encouraged people to ‘take head of the government advice’ and said standing two metres apart, along with practicing good hand hygiene are the ‘most effective’ ways to slow down the spread of the virus.
The Chief Minister has explained that Jersey is weeks away from having its own testing facilities.
The comments came after results have been delayed in coming back to Jersey.
He says that if Guernsey were to get testing facilities first, he would hope they would work together in testing islanders.
