Coronavirus: Aurigny reduces number of flights and revises timetable
Airline Aurigny says it is reducing its schedule and offering a revised timetable from Saturday 21 March.
Services to Birmingham, Bristol, East Midlands, Exeter, London Stansted are all being suspended.
There will still be some flights to Gatwick, Southampton and Manchester but these will be on reduced services.
The company says the new schedule will run up to and including the 19 April but could change depending on the evolving situation.
Anyone going to Alderney from anywhere outside of the Bailiwick will have to self isolate for 14 days.
A list of new scheduled flights can be found below:
GR604 – Guernsey to Gatwick – Departing at 10.20
GR605 – Gatwick to Guernsey – Departing at 11.50
GR606 – Guernsey to Gatwick – Departing at 14.50
GR607 – Gatwick to Guernsey – Departing at 16.30
GR656 – Guernsey to Southampton – Departing at 14.40
GR657 – Southampton to Guernsey – Departing at 15.55
GR670 - Guernsey to Manchester – Departing at 1040
GR671 - Manchester to Guernsey – Departing at 1235
Aurigny say the new schedule is a temporary measure to 'reduce costs in this unprecedented period of low demand.'
They say they hope to resume normal services for the summer period.
It comes after Guernsey's government introduced stricter border controls advising that all non-essential travel must stop to and from the island with immediate effect.
Anyone returning on any flight to the island now needs to self-isolate for 14 days even if they are showing symptoms or not.
Aurigny is asking customers to not call their call centre unless they are advised to do so. Those who are travelling over the weekend of the 21 and 22 March then they should have received a message if their flight has changed.
The company says people who want to cancel their bookings can still receive a refund but they say it will be in the form of a credit voucher which is valid for a year.
If customers have reserved a flight to or from Guernsey on or before 19 April and your flight has been cancelled or changed by Aurigny, then the airline says they will be rebooked onto a different service and notified by email.
Aurigny says if it has to reduce services further then flights GR606 and GR607 to and from Gatwick will be the last flights to be cancelled.
