Jersey mum fears life-threatening impact of Coronavirus on vulnerable patients

A Jersey mother is calling for the threat of Coronavirus to be taken seriously to protect vulnerable patients.

Lisa Oxenden-Wray's 11-year-old son Luke has a rare kidney disease named Nephrotic Syndrome, which means he is at a much higher risk if he contracts the virus.

The medication Luke has to take for the condition means his immunity is affected. As a result, he has been home-schooled since September to minimise the risk of picking up illness.

He says the implications of him getting coronavirus could be devastating.

Luke's mum wants to create a support group for parents like her who are concerned about the virus and its impact on vulnerable patients - and is appealing to other islanders to heed health warnings and self-isolate if they show symptoms.
