Body recovered in Guernsey confirmed as missing man Matthew Bourgaize

Police have confirmed a body recovered from Hevelet bay in Guernsey is that of missing man Matthew Bourgaize.

DNA tests carried out on the body, retrieved from the water in Havelet on 9 February, have confirmed it belongs to the 29-year-old.

He had not been seen since 2:50pm on Saturday 11 January, when he was seen leaving the foyer of the Oberlands Centre, where he had been receiving treatment.

Police say their thoughts are with Matthew Bourgaize's family and have asked their privacy be respected.

They are not treating the death as suspicious and say an inquest will take place in due course.
