Raiders return to top on landmark day for Layton

Prop forward Layton Batiste scored two tries on his 300th appearance as Guernsey Raiders beat Sevenoaks 31-3 at home to return to the top of London & South East Premier.

With rivals Rochford Hundred failing to secure the bonus point in their victory at London Irish Wild Geese, Guernsey's five-try win saw them move to the head of the table on points difference with six matches to go.

Batiste, who is the first player to reach the milestone for the club, got Guernsey on their way with a try either side of half-time.

Joe Anderson, Tom Ceillam, and Anthony Armstrong got the others as they registered an emphatic victory in their bid to secure promotion back to National Two South at the first attempt.

Raiders were relegated to the fifth level of English rugby last year having gone up to the fourth tier for the first time in their history through a play-off the season before.

Jordan Reynolds' side still have to welcome third-placed Wimbledon to Footes Lane, who can cut the gap to the top two to three points if they pick up the bonus from their game in hand.
