Jersey launches honorary police recruitment campaign

A recruitment campaign is launching to encourage people to join Jersey's honorary police.

The head of the force says recruiting officers has been difficult in recent years.

The role of the honorary police in each parish is to maintain law and order in the community.

Their duties include road safety, helping find missing people and policing major events. It is a voluntary service that has run in Jersey for hundreds of years.

So if you'd like to help, here's more information about the Honorary Police:

  • You must be between 20-70 to be nominated.

  • You must be a resident in the parish, or a ratepayer in St Helier.

  • Officers are on duty one week at a time, usually every 3-4 weeks and are on call 24 hours a day during that period.

Anyone who is interested should contact their parish hall.
