Jersey Dairy milk cartons get eco-friendly makeover

Jersey Dairy's cartons have had an eco-friendly makeover.

The company says it is the first dairy in the world to feature the LEAF marque (Linking Environment and Farming) - an accreditation for sustainability.

It is awarded when the process from start to finish meets high sustainability standards, including soil and water management, animal welfare and energy efficiency.

The new packaging will still feature the existing colour banding system to help customers distinguish between its 1%, 2.5%, Skimmed and Whole Milk versions and organic products.

The new packaging, produced by Tetra-Pak, is made from sugar cane and has Carbon Trust certification, with a 22% lower carbon footprint.

It is the first packaging of its kind in the UK and the Channel Islands.
