Prisoner art proving to be a success in Guernsey
An art exhibition with work from prisoners in Guernsey has been deemed a success.
That is according to Art for Guernsey which says it is improving inmates' self-esteem and connecting them to the outside world.
It is the first exhibition to be held by the organisation at the Guille-Alles Library this year.
It features 48 pieces from 22 prisoners being held at Les Nicolles Prison.
The work, which has been titled the Prisoners' Double Window exhibition, has already been seen by over 100 people.
15 pieces of the 48 were sold on the opening night.
The founder of Art for Guernsey says he is delighted the work has been well received.
The exhibition is part of an eight month project in which to create discussion on what it is like to be in prison.
The proceeds of the artwork, which have been priced at £250, are going to the Creative Learning in Prison charity (CLIP) or divided between them and the artist.
The free exhibit runs at the library until 1 February.
