Jersey Hospital on amber alert
Pressures on Jersey’s hospital have forced it to be put on amber alert.
Islanders are being warned to only visit the Emergency Department if they have a genuine medical emergency.
So far five routine patients appointments have been cancelled whilst urgent operations and the Day Surgery Unit remain open.
The hospital spokesperson says a busy period with flu and gastrointestinal conditions being more common during winter.
People with chronic conditions are also more susceptible during this time of year.
