'More work to be done' on traffic plans for Guernsey's new Lisia School

Guernsey's government is reassuring local residents that traffic plans for the island's new Lisia school have not been decided.

The Committee for Education, Sport & Culture says that proposals outlined in a Traffic Impact Assessment do not amount to the final plans and that there is 'considerable work' still to be done before they can be approved.

However, they would be used to help design traffic management systems for the sites at Victor Hugo College (on the site of St Sampson’s site) and de Saumarez College (on the current Les Beaucamps site).

Under the plans proposed in the Traffic Impact Assessment for the sites, one in four staff would be unable to park their cars. Deputy Matt Fallaize, the Committee's President, said the aim was to encourage 'modest increases' in other forms of transport.

The Committee says its efforts to draw up the plans will also involve creating focus groups including local residents and the Health Improvement Commission’s Active Travel Officer.
