Plans for a play area at Guernsey's Little Chapel are withdrawn

Plans for a children's play area at the Little Chapel in Guernsey have been withdrawn.

The tourist attraction is undergoing a three-year renovation, to make sure it is back up to scratch for its 100th birthday in 2021. This will include making it disability-friendly.

The Little Chapel Foundation have now agreed to remove the play area from the renovation scheme, after concerns were raised the site would become 'Disneyfied'.

The chapel's committee want the focus of the three-year renovation to be on improving disability access and biodiversity onsite.

The Little Chapel Foundation have already spent half a million pounds on renovating it and are now aiming to make the outside more user friendly.

Included in the outside restoration work, will be refurbishment of the paths, steps and walkways. The aim is allow wheelchair users to go inside the chapel through the front door and see inside.
