Pay As You Go fares rise as 2020 Guernsey Bus timetable announced
People who buy Pay As You Go tickets on Guernsey's bus services will have to pay more in 2020.
From Monday 6 January, Pay As You Go users will pay 65 pence per journey, an increase of 5 pence a fare.
Nightowl services, which run on a Friday and Saturday nights, will cost an extra 50 pence with journeys costing £3.00.
The new timetable, which is available to view online, will see fewer buses running off peak on the route 81 service which runs from the Town Terminus to Jerbourg in the winter. It's due to lower demand from visitors to the island.
More buses however will be put on the Route 71 service, which runs from the Town Terminus towards the airport, in the summer. The extra services will run from 13 April to 10 October to make it easier for passengers visiting the Little Chapel.
Two new services are also being introduced:
An 8:15am Route 71 departure from the Town Terminus, for commuters and other passengers heading westbound from St Peter Port.
A 16:10 Route 71 will run from Route des Bas Courtils in St Andrews during College term-times to accommodate students from Blanchelande College wishing to travel into Town.
Additional measures introduced in 2019 to cater for cruise ship passengers will also continue. This includes the requirement for visitors to buy a £5 day pass ticket to use routes 91 and 92 for an 'Island tour' and the 'Guernsey Explorer' private hire service which will continue to run from the Picquet House Stand.
Printed copies of the new timetable will be available on buses, the Town Terminus shop, the tourist information office, Guernsey Airport and the Bulwer Avenue office.
