Plans for lower GP costs in Jersey put to States
The cost of seeing a GP could soon be reduced for poorer islanders in Jersey.
The scheme would see a re-evaluation of the way the cost of primary healthcare is calculated for vulnerable groups.
Deputy Geoff Southern, who put forward the proposition, says he believes this would removed potential barriers which stop islanders who are 'financially, clinically or socially vulnerable' from using their GPs.
He hopes the proposition can be debated in the States in the second half of 2020 and, if approved, a scheme could be implemented from 1 January 2021.
