Schoolchildren get the first spin on Guernsey's ice rink

Schoolchildren in Guernsey have been trying out the ice rink before it opens to the public.

Year 7 and 8 students from Le Murier were the first to take to the ice at Le Friquet Garden Centre.

The early opening of the rink was particularly helpful for pupils with special needs who were able to use the rink in a quieter atmosphere.

Some of the students even stayed behind to cook a Christmas dinner on ice as part of their outdoor challenge for the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
