Guernsey school pupils served budget meals to highlight island's food waste problem
Students and staff from Les Beaucamps High School in Guernsey are taking part in an exercise related to food waste today.
Caterers will cook 500 hot meals for staff and students on an £800 budget - the estimated amount of money the average local family wastes every year by throwing away good food.
The Big Feed event is part of a new campaign called Food's Not Rubbish launched by Guernsey Waste.
It is estimated this could save islanders as much as £10 million per year.
