Price cap could be placed on cost of electricity in Sark
Officials want to try cap the cost of electricity in Sark again.
Following an investigation, the Price Control Commissioner has suggested a maximum price of 53p per unit.
It was raised from 66p to 85p in September - making it the most expensive electricity in the world - and was described by the Commissioner then as "neither fair nor reasonable".
Dr Anthony White says this cap would ensure that the provider, Sark Electricity Limited (SEL), would make a reasonable profit, while remaining a fair deal for customers.
Sark Electricity fought a forced price drop last year and came close to cutting off the island's power.
The Electricity Commissioner will now seek representations from SEL, residents and other interested parties to decide whether there is a need to issue a legally enforceable Price Control Order.
