Jersey name squad for World Cup Challenge League tournament in Oman

Jersey have named a 14-man squad for next month's Cricket World Cup Challenge League B tournament in Oman, with all but three of their recent T20 unit retained.

Ben Ward, Nick Ferraby, and Anthony Hawkins-Kay were unavailable for selection after helping the island side to a 10th-place finish at the T20 World Cup Qualifier in the UAE.

They are replaced by young bowler Danny Birrell and experienced all-rounder Nat Watkins - who last featured for Jersey in the old World Cricket League Division Four in spring 2018 where he averaged more than 40 with the bat as Jersey finished fourth.

Jersey's fixtures in Oman:

  • Monday 2 December - v Uganda

  • Thursday 5 December - v Hong Kong

  • Friday 6 December - v Italy

  • Monday 9 December - v Kenya

  • Wednesday 11 December - Bermuda

The newly-created Challenge League structure represents the bottom rung of the ladder for qualification for the 2023 Cricket World Cup in India.

Jersey have been grouped with Uganda, Hong Kong, Italy, Kenya, and Bermuda and will play all five in annual tournaments over the next three years.

The winners of Challenge League A and B will go into a play-off with the bottom four sides from World Cup League Two, with two progressing to a World Cup Qualifier.

Jersey squad to travel to Oman: Chuggy Perchard (c), Danny Birrell, Corey Bisson, Dom Blampied, Harrison Carlyon, Jake Dunford, Nick Greenwood, Jonty Jenner, Elliot Miles, Rhys Palmer, Will Robertson, Ben Stevens, Julius Sumerauer, Nat Watkins.
