Jersey bus pass scheme for islanders with disabilities rolled out indefinitely
A scheme that provides free bus travel for people with disabilities in Jersey is set to continue indefinitely.
152 passes were issued when the policy was launched in March 2017. There are now 599 passes which have provided 8,581 journeys.
The pilot was due to end this December, but the scheme will now be extended indefinitely after Infrastructure Minister Deputy Kevin Lewis signed a ministerial decision. He says it will benefit the islanders who need it the most.
To qualify for a disabled concessionary bus pass, the person must have been a resident on the island for the last five years and be aged five or over.
Existing passholders will need to renew their passes at the Customer Service Desk at Liberation Station.
New applicants will must pay a £15 administration fee but those who bought a card under the pilot scheme will not be charged.
