Life expectancy figures published for Jersey

Life expectancy figures have been published for Jersey.

Based on current age-specific mortality rates, newborn baby boys in Jersey can expect to live for for 80.8 years, with 66.4 of those years spent in 'very good' or 'good' health.

Baby girls meanwhile could live for for 84.6 years - almost four years longer - with 70.2 years in 'very good' or 'good' health.

The statistics suggest that a 65-year old male could expect to live for a further 19.4 years, while a female of the same age could expect to live for 21.8 more years.

All of the above figures are higher than the comparable statistics for England.
