Jersey tennis player working with former Grand Slam finalist

Jersey tennis player Stuart Parker has teamed up with former top-10 star Thomas Enqvist as he looks to climb up the sport’s rankings.

Parker - who currently sits at 878 in the world - recently made the switch to an academy in the south of France where he will train with the Swedish star.

Enqvist reached world number four during his career, getting to the final of the Australian Open in 1999 and winning 19 singles titles along the way.

The 45-year-old also recently acted as Team Europe’s vice-captain in the Laver Cup, working with some of the game’s current top players.

Two-times Island Games champion Parker has set his sights on the world’s top 100 having committed to tennis full-time in 2019.

Playing on the ITF tour this year, he has made it to two singles semi-finals, but has not played a tournament since August because of injury.
