'Blue Charter' aims to help Islands go green

A new agreement has been signed hoping to bring together islands across Britain on environmental issues.

Representatives from across the Channel Islands signed the Blue Charter at the Wilder Islands Conservation conference in Alderney.

The aim is for the islands to work together on common green issues including working towards bans on single-use plastics and managing the impact on marine life.

They also hope to create a joint biodiversity fund, which could accept contributions from governmental, corporate and sources.
