Sark Olympian Carl Hester backs same-sex marriage on the island
Sark Olympian Carl Hester has thrown his weight behind plans to legalise same-sex marriage on the island.
Hester, who is openly gay, describes the island as a 'magical place' and says it would be a great benefit to the island's profile.
The Chief Pleas is due to debate the issue on Wednesday 2 October. If approved, the plans would bring the island in-line with Alderney, Guernsey and Jersey who already allow same-sex weddings.
Hester is Sark's only Olympic Gold medalist, as a member of the team that won the team dressage event at the 2012 London Olympics. He has a gold postbox on the island to commemorate his success.
