Experts have been dissecting a secondary Asian Hornet nest found in Guernsey.

The team from the Asian Hornet Strategy hopes to learn more about the invasive species to counter its threat to native bee populations.

The hornets pose a major threat to the island's pollinating insects. At the height of summer, a single hornet can eat up to 50 bees in a day.

The team had to use a raised platform to reach the nest, before neutralising it with a chemical and taking it to the lab for dissection.

The first primary nest to be discovered in Guernsey was found in May 2019 and the States are urging islanders to notify them of any sightings.
