Guernsey's golfers win back inter-insular Challenge Trophy after six years
Guernsey's golfers got their hands back on the inter-insular Challenge Trophy for the first time in a six years with a 12.5-7.5 victory at L'Ancresse.
Dave Jeffrey's team needed four points from Sunday's singles to regain the trophy after edging their rivals in both the fourballs and foursomes sessions on the first day.
Danny Griggs and Nigel Vaudin starred for Guernsey, winning both their matches to help set-up the home advantage.
With plenty of support on the course, Guernsey picked up six points on the final morning, Danny Blondel holing the put which secured victory.
Tom Le Huray got the home side on their way, coming back from three down through six against Jason Stokes to win 2&1.
There were also singles wins for Guernsey's Roland Mills, Jamie Blondel and Bobby Eggo, while Jersey's Harvey Hill, Paul Le Chevalier and Phil Evans picked up points in a losing cause.
The matches between Danny Bisson and Jeremy Phillips and Vaudin and Ryan Riley finished all square.
It is only the second victory Guernsey's men have secured in the fixture since 2009.
