There are calls for more businesses in Jersey to provide facilities for women breastfeeding their newborns.

A letter has been sent out by the Social Security Minister asking local companies who may already provide such services to help those that do not.

Deputy Judy Martin says part of the government's aim is putting children first and making sure breastfeeding facilities are more accessible should be part of that.

She says this could help make the return to work for new parents easier.

The letter also includes a link for businesses to share information of their own breastfeeding facilities and if they would be willing for mothers, who do not work within their company, to use their services.
